The Children’s Choice Book Prize

Bókaverðlaun barnanna

A prize awarded annually by public libraries together with school libraries throughout the country. The books are chosen by 6-12 year old children, who vote for one book originally written in Icelandic and one that is translated from another language. The voting takes place during the spring and the prize is awarded on the first day of summer.

The prize is hosted by the Reykjavík City Library and in the beginning it was a project within the Reykjavík area.
