The Jónas Hallgrímsson Prize

On The Icelandic Language Day, November 16th every year, the Ministry of Education gives out The Jónas Hallgrímsson Prize. It is given to individuals who have enriched the Icelandic language in writing or speaking, with fiction, studies or teaching. Additionally, special acknowledgement is given for work that has contributed towards the cultivation of the Icelandic language.
