Sometimes One Buys a Book of Poetry


Sometimes one buys a book of poetry
it's Tuesday
perhaps it's snowing or you're waiting
in a little train station at the end of August
the train newly departed a few books
on a table by the newsstand
and before you know
you've bought a small book
some of the pages almost empty
a hunch about something
a world of symbols and images
words that take you away
and the day streches farther
then the rails reach
